Permanent doesn't mean indestructible. Permanent jewelry is meant to stay on and hold up to everyday wear for years. However, our chains are intentionally delicate enough to break under significant force rather than injure you.

If yours breaks, save the chain and bring it back to us. In many cases, we can repair or reweld it. Every purchase comes with a free revision, and simple repairs are complimentary during our Open Studio hours. Replacement materials or more extensive repairs may incur a fee.

Absolutely. Clip the small connecting ring with scissors or nail clippers and save your chain. If you want it back on later, bring it to our studio during our open hours or book a private appointment and we are happy to reweld the piece if we can.

If you're asked to remove it for a medical procedure, always follow your medical provider's instructions.

Yep. Permanent jewelry generally does not need to be removed for airport security, so you can travel with it just like the rest of your everyday jewelry.

If security personnel ever ask you to remove it, follow their instructions — it can always be rewelded later.

Nope. Our Raleigh studio is open for walk-ins Saturday, Sunday + Monday from 12–2 PM.

Our permanent jewelry chains are offered in 14k gold filled or solid sterling silver.

14k gold-filled has a thick layer of real 14k gold mechanically bonded to a durable base metal. Unlike gold plating, it won't easily flake or wear away — making it durable for years of moisture exposure & ideal for jewelry you actually live in.

Yes, we offer a few ways to personalize your piece in the studio. Choose from semi-precious gemstones, individually wrapped by hand, or add a small disc charm hand-stamped with the letter of your choice.

If you're looking for something specific feel free to bring it in, we're happy to attach your own charm to your piece. We advise only using charms smaller than a dime for ease of everyday wear.

We work primarily with 14k gold-filled, sterling silver and freshwater pearls.

We choose materials that can handle real life — showering, sweating, swimming, sleeping, traveling and everything in between. HEIR is made to be lived in, not saved for special occasions.

Our core materials are chosen specifically for longevity and everyday wear. Gold-filled jewelry won't flake or rub off like traditional gold plating, while sterling silver can last a lifetime but naturally oxidizes and may occasionally need polishing.

Mostly? Wear it. If your jewelry needs a refresh, gently clean it with mild soap and water and dry it thoroughly. Sterling silver can be polished as needed, and pearls are happiest when kept away from harsh chemicals, perfumes and prolonged chemical exposure.

Your jewelry will age with you, but with normal care it should stay beautiful for years.
